Film – As is to be expected when attending a TV & Media stream at college, I’m becoming more and more inspired to do something great with these videography skills. I was especially inspired after my video editing class this week, where my instructor shared about how our world is consumed with digital, interactive media, and how the Gospel needs to have a voice in such a significant sphere! I’m excited to see where this aspiration may lead.
Food – An unusual craving for asian food hit me recently and I started scouring Pinterest for some easy recipes, only to realize that most dishes require loads of ingredients I don’t regularly plop into my buggy at the shop! After finally settling on one, I got to work in the kitchen and as I sliced up a pack of five chicken breasts to go with some rice, I realized I should really pray that it would turn out, otherwise I’d be wasting a whole lot of food, haha! As always, Jesus was gracious and it turned out fabulous, providing multiple weeks of leftovers (perfect for the college life)!
Familiar – Funny how these giant white buildings that make up the Hillsong College/Church campus (that I had excitedly toured around via google maps before arrival) had me wide-eyed with wonder at the start of my time here, and now I walk by them without blinking. Palm trees that had me smiling every time I saw them now slip past unnoticed. Caution, Karen! Wake up the wonder! I realize that seasons change, and things become more familiar, and that’s okay. But I also don’t ever want to lose a state of wonder in all moments of life. God is so gracious and he’s always up to something amazing. I don’t want to miss it! To pack this point home, I recently heard a message titled “I Am Wonderstruck,” a pretty neat confirmation of my recent musings. And if I stop and think about the fact that I live in Sydney, Australia and attend Hillsong College… It’s pretty flippin’ amazing!!! In fact, it’s a dream come true. So here’s to staying in a state of wonder… For the rest of life!
