Oh the mems.

You know those nights when you and yer buds hang out and whatever happens it’s just a good time because you’re with good people?  Well, that happened this month, with my “Legends that Send It.”  And, since we are film people, we made a film.  On the spot.  It makes me laugh.  But first!  Some stop motion…

EASTER

Easter just passed, and I had the opportunity to play violin for Hillsong Hills’ Good Friday service!  I was so excited to have the opportunity to play along with the incredible band and have a small part in a big day!  Insert funny story here…  We had a rehearsal the night before to run through everything, and myself and the other strings players were playing our parts and everything went smoothly!  I was feeling pretty good and excited for the next day.  Apparently I was so excited that I forgot to set my alarm.  OOOOOOOPS.  Yeah, so I woke up the next morning 30 minutes past my call time (as in, the time I was meant to be AT church, READY to play) to my friend Andy who was running audio monitors that morning.  As soon as I was conscious and saw his name on my vibrating phone, I knew what had happened, and I felt awful.  I answered the call with a very fast speech of “I’mSoSorryI’llBeThereAsSoonAsICan!”  And after the fastest getting ready routine of life (I’m thankful my clothes were laid out the night before) I practically ran to church, my violin in hand!  Thankfully, the strings oversight was gracious and called me on my walk in, telling me to breathe, relax and simply arrive as soon as I could.  I was so thankful for her sweet spirit, especially for my first time playing violin in the Hills campus!

CHOCOLATE

Speaking of Easter, my housemate Lowri did an Easter egg hunt for us housies in the front yard.  Here’s a picture of our excited faces.  That is all 🙂

PREACHING

This semester I’m in a preaching class.  Why?  Multiple reasons.  Firstly, the lecturer for this subject is an incredible human named Robert Fergusson.  He is one person that I look up to and respect because he lives a radical, holy life unto the Glory of God!  It’s truly an honour to sit under his teaching.  Some take-aways off the top of my head from the class are as follows:
  • Everyone goes through a wilderness season (even Jesus)
  • There is a difference between teaching & preaching
  • We are storytellers
  • We must live by conviction
  • There are non-negotiables as Christians, are we actually living accordingly?
  • If the Bible says to consider the raven, have you done so?
  • If I believe I am part of the next generation of Church leaders, how well do I really know my Bible?
Oi, yeah.  In this class you will also get called out if you fall asleep or yawn.  Electronics are banned.  Every person in class must be taking notes.  You may think it’s strict, but I think it is genius, and I have learned a lot because of it!  Robert taught us how to pay attention and how to discipline ourselves.  I pray all of us students carry these principals into the rest of our lives!
