1 Year, 8 Months

This month’s montage is behind the scenes from my very first short film shoot!  More on point 3 about this…

1. 25 – This month I turned a quarter of a century!  I remember my bestie Rachael saying that when she turned 25 she didn’t “feel like a kid anymore,” but like, for real this time.  I laughed, but I think I know what she means now.  Twenty-five feels a little more serious, a little more, “let’s get down to business.”  I catch myself getting stressed out over the passage of time, which is rather hilarious because I can’t really think of anything else that is more out of my control then that!  But of course, it is my decision how to spend that time.  Here’s to another year soaked in the goodness of God and the joy of life, despite what comes!
(Below: my birthday was celebrated on the beach with the sunrise, with some very treasured friends!)

2. Being a Teacher – I feel like I write about this a lot, but one of my favourite things about being a music teacher is that I have to be a learner.  Despite the title of one who offers knowledge, one must first gain it.  I’m constantly challenged by this as students at varying skill levels come through my door, giving me yet another new opportunity to learn how to relate to them, encourage them, and help them explore the world of music!

3. Short Film – this month has been a crazy one when it comes to this project.  Pre-production, principal photography, post-production – it’s all happening (also, who knew that shooting a short film would include tasks like doing multiple driving trips to transport crew, and asking friends if I could borrow wall art out of their houses!)!  I’ve been tired, scared and really excited all along the way.  In one of my most stressed out moments, I was reminded that making a short film was one of the things that drew me to this course in the first place!  That reminder shifted my attitude, and I am pressing forward into seeing the finished project!
