1 Year, 3 Months

1. Team – this past month we had College “intensives” which basically means we had long lectures each day, all on the same topic of “Team Leadership.”  It was all SUCH good teaching and more than ever before I feel like God is drawing me to a new level in my ability to lead!  Funny, ‘cause if I’m being real honest, I thought I was a pretty good leader, and yet after this past week, I’m realizing how far I have to go!  Teams are vital to Church growth, and actually to the realization of our individual destiny’s, as opposite as that may sound.  I feel quite nervous about what’s ahead – like, sometimes sick to my stomach fearful, ha!  But despite my apprehension to pride that will need to be broken down and selflessness that will need to be put on, I believe God has me right where he wants me, that the end result is good, and the journey is lifelong.  Onward, Lord!

2. Presentation – myself and my classmate, Daniel, had the opportunity to put together a short slide presentation (just the slide design, not the actual presentation) which involved doing a mini photoshoot at a cafe and editing together a video loop.  I was happy with out it came out, but especially excited to know that this presentation was going to be used at a staff meeting, in front of a lot of great leaders and important people in the Hillsong Church sphere!  I’m so thankful for opportunities to use my creative ideas and skills to enlarge the kingdom!
(BELOW: I’m a little obsessed with the “lay flat” look!)
3. Prayer – guys, prayer is such a simple, basic piece of Christianity, but lately I’ve been stirred to dig into it more.  It’s funny how I often pray for things, and forget to exuberantly thank God when he is gracious enough to grant that request.  On the flip side, I wonder how much I miss out on by simply not asking, and by not communing with the Father in dialogue.  An example of answered prayer (that until now I may have missed) is that over the past couple of weeks I’ve been able to go on some “adventures,” and road trips to explore new places around Sydney – like beaches or mountain views!  I realize this is actually something I prayed and asked God for, and he graciously granted it!  He knows my hunger for nature and my need to breathe in the open air.  Another one was that I prayed for opportunity to use my musical, worship leading abilities and gifts, and no joke, only a few days later a friend asked me to help lead a worship set at his connect group!  I felt “well used” and satisfied afterwards.  As an end thought to this, I recently heard from a psychologist in one of our Hillsong Sisterhood services that people who pray are actually healthier and calmer mentally!  I don’t know all the technical stuff or the proper terms, but he even said that because of this research they want to bring back prayer in schools because of the effect it has on the human brain.  Prayer is POWERFUL, people!
(BELOW: Thanks Zahli for sculpting and snapping this shot. I didn’t really know what you were doing in the moment, but it turned out a beautiful end to this blog post!)
