Exactly one month ago I stepped onto Australian soil, beginning this incredible new season of life as a college student and a foreigner. With some free time on this lovely Sunday afternoon, I decided to create a little montage of some of the things I’ve done thus far. I also attempted an original soundtrack (recorded the violin with my iphone mic, ha!)! All and all, it got the creative juices flowing, and out of that you get a little peak into what my life has been like lately.
Instead of promising you and myself to blog every so often with multiple pages of the ebbs and flows of life – and in turn get disappointed with myself for not meeting those deadlines – I decided to write just a couple things about what’s going on in this blessed little heart of mine over the past month:
1. I am surprised by how “normal” it feels to be living here. This may mean that culture shock hasn’t hit yet, or that God’s grace has extended to cover me during this transition period. Let’s pray it’s the second!
2. I love making time to be artsy. Call me a hipster, but I’m serious when I say that lately one of my favourite things to do is sit down with my sketchpad, a bag of markers and a good latte. Making time to write down or draw the ideas bouncing around my head is refreshing and inspiring (preferably this is all done in a quaint little cafe, but I’m also satisfied with home-made iced coffee and my dining room table – college budget, yo!).
3. I am challenged by the Holy Spirit. Although it’s been pretty “easy” getting fed into by incredible speakers and the worship teams here at Hillsong Church, (I told a friend recently that I feel like I’m getting “spiritually fat,” haha!) the Holy Spirit hasn’t wasted any time starting to dig at the edges of my heart, unearthing what needs to go, and staking the ground for what is about to be built.
All in all, life is good.
